Dreams Do Come True
Hello, folks!
Do you remember that I started applying in November last year to many universities in Europe to pursue a PhD abroad?! Although I almost got accepted to some universities, such as Edinburgh and Liverpool (the supervisors chose me, but the scholarship committee did not), the decisions were frustrating. However, these frustrations gave me experience and helped me improve. Hence, I am here today to say: I DID IT! I will pursue my Ph.D. at the University of Helsinki in Finland!!!
Can you imagine what I felt when I saw this: “The selection committee appointed by the
Doctoral School of the University of Helsinki has selected you for the doctoral researcher position in the Doctoral
Education Pilot 2024 autumn call. We offer you a 36-month fixed-term and
full-time (100%) employment contract in the Doctoral Education Pilot in
Precision Cancer Medicine (iCANDOC) starting on 1.1.2025.”
I thought many times about giving up, which I am not capable of doing, but I continued with focus, resilience, and trying to think positively. Though I’m feeling nervous, anxious, and some insecurities with the fact that I have never to traveled abroad, and to live in another country will be challenging with a different language, weather, culture, people etc.
I know that it definitely will change my life for the better (obviously), and it will be a great experience, so I will not allow barriers and fears block me.
I just want to say thank for my new supervisor for believing me, and for all the advices until now, writing a project together was amazing! Furthermore, I would like to thank my husband for helping me a lot, and for not letting me give up on my dreams. In addition, thank you all my friends and colleges for cheering for me, specially my former supervisors for helping me as well, and for their amazing recommendation letters.
Ps: My birthday is in November 12,
so it was my best gift <3
Let’s celebrate this achievement!🍣🎇🎉🍷
